When I published my first Paradox Club book back in 2020. I deliberately went with a Text Based Cover to avoid the mantrap that is looking for just the right over image, something that can eat up hours of your time. Not to mention the challenge of constantly finding cover images with a consistent look, which isn’t eacy if you’ve not paying a designer to do each one for you.
My initial Zero Budget Author design looked like this:
I liked the octagonal “web of time” motif and the Ravenscroft book title font. But then I had a rethink and came up with a darker design that I thought was a real improvement…
The mk2 covers are a step up from their mk1 counterparts, the yellow text stands out a lot more against the red background than it did before when the backgroud octagon was white rather than black.
But now I’ve had another rethink, and this time I think the mk3 covers have nailed it!
Book 1 : Susan Campbell & John Smith
Book 2: Deborah Whitefield and Ghost
Book 3: Victoria Winter & Mayfair Strange
Book 4: John Smith, Susan Campbell & Phillipa Audrey
Books 5, 6 & 7: Valentine & Milo
Since Valentine and Milo are the heroes of the story moving forward, most of the future covers will, obviously, feature them. But maybe not all of them…
